Warren Buffett

Warren Buffett is a rich businessman and one of the most recognized investors on the financial markets. This American investor, nicknamed « Oracle of Omaha », is the richest man in the world according to Forbes with a fortune estimated at $62 billion in 2008.
After receiving a master’s degree in economy from Columbia University, Warren Buffet (born on August 30, 1930) began to intervene on financial markets from 1957. After having invested in a textile firm, Berkshire Hathaway, he liquidated the textile activity to launch an investment fund with the same name. In 2003, Berkshire Hathaway had about forty firms which employed 150,000 people.

Warren Buffett announced on Sunday June 25, 2006 his intention to give some $44 billion to the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation and to members of his own family. This decision, which concerns more than 80% of his fortune, is the biggest individual donation ever done in the United States. This philanthropist said that he wanted to give 99% of his fortune, after his death, to a good cause!
