Jean-Claude Trichet

Jean-Claude Trichet, the current European Central Bank Governor was born on December 20, 1942 in Lyon.
Mister Trichet has a diploma from the l'école nationale supérieure des mines of Nancy in 1964. In 1966, he graduated with a degree in economics from a University in Paris. In 1971, he received a diploma from the National School of Administration; he then became “Inspector of Finance.”
After being among other things technical Adviser for the Elysée under Mister Valery Giscard D’Estaing in 1978; Cabinet Director for Mister Edouard Balladur at the Ministry of Finance in 1986, Public Treasury director from 1987…. He obtained the position of governor of the Bank of France in 1993.
On November 1, 2003, Mister Trichet (France) became the European Central Bank succeeding Wim Duisenberg (The Netherlands).
In 2004, he was awarded the Carpette Anglaise award (which gives a “civil indignity” award each year to a member of the French elite who is distinguished for his determination to promote the domination of English in France and in the European institutions to the detriment of the French language) after having said “I am not a Frenchman” during a hearing before the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of the European Parliament.
